Tony Hegarty
Identity UK is the first salon that successful hairdresser Tony Hegarty has owned. Since Tony first opened the doors back in June 2000, the salon has gone from strength to strength. He has successfully built on his loyal customer base by attracting new clients who are all impressed with our stunning salon, friendly and informal atmosphere and, of course, Tony's amazing hairdressing skills.
During the period that Tony Hegarty has been working in the hair industry, he has built up a solid reputation both in salon and session work. Specialising in both European and Afro-Caribbean hair, as well as colouring, he has a number of magazine, television, video and theatre credits to his name. Tony quickly realised that there was a real need for expert mixed-race hairdressing, so using his experience and technical skills in hairdressing, he is now the UK's foremost hairdresser for mixed-race hairdressing. this was recognised by L'oreal Professional, when they approached tony to help develop their Mixed-race hair styling range, Hairmix.
Tony previously managed the highly successful Ocean Boulevard in London's Covent Garden for ten years where he headed up the creative team. He later moved in 1991 to Radical Design in Camden Town as the salon's Artistic Director. His hard work and creative flair paid off when he was placed as one of the five finalists for Afro Hairdresser of the Year in the annual British Hairdressing Awards (1999). In November 2003, he was awarded Stylist of the Year by Bh magazine, in assoiation with Revlon. Identity UK was also awarded Salon of the Year in the same awards.
More recently, he has been asked to be a guest artist at the new L'Oreal training academy in Manchester, beating off stiff competition from other more well-known hairdressers.
Because of his skills, Tony has built up a large, loyal client base. The fact that some of his oldest clients have been with him for over 18 years and some specifically visit him on a regular basis from their overseas base, speaks volumes.
